ALBANY – A Philmont man was sentenced to three years and one month in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for heroin and fentanyl trafficking in Columbia County.

Timothy Simpson, Jr., 41, pled guilty admitting that between April 2017 and March 2018, he purchased heroin and fentanyl from a supplier in the Bronx, Saul Pacheco.

Typically between 40 and 60 grams of the drugs were supplied during each meeting after which Simpson drove back to Columbia County and sold the drugs to customers.

On March 22, 2018, Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies stopped Simpson while he was driving on Route 9H in Claverack. Officers found two bags hidden in and under the car, one with over 56 grams of heroin and the other with over 11 grams of fentanyl.

On September 10, 2019, Pacheco was sentenced to five years in prison for his role in the conspiracy.
