KINGSTON – One person is dead and three others required medical attention after all four overdosed in a residence in the City of Kingston.

The City Police Patrol and Detective Divisions were called to the home on Saturday, November 9 where they found one person dead from a drug overdose and three others requiring immediate medical attention.

A white powder recovered at the scene preliminarily tested positive for the presence of cocaine and fentanyl, police said. Further investigation revealed that some, if not all of the people involved, did not realize the suspected cocaine was laced with fentanyl, the deadly synthetic opioid.

Police said anyone who is an abuser of cocaine or any other illegal substance should be informed that they may be at risk for exposure to fentanyl.
