TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Town of Poughkeepsie Police and Fairview firefighters responded to the Rite Aid store on North Road across from Marist College on Monday for a report of a car into a building.

At around noon a caller to 911 reported that a vehicle had struck a box truck in the parking lot and then crashed into the building.

Arriving first responders found that the pickup truck had penetrated the exterior wall of the structure, causing injuries to an employee who was in the office at the time.

The driver, whose name has not been released by police, was seen being administered a series of tests to determine if he was impaired by alcohol or some other substance and was seen being handcuffed and placed in a police vehicle.

The store was closed for much of the remainder of the day.
