Cops investigate two incidents in City of Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie Police are investigating two separate Saturday evening crimes that sent victims to the hospital.

Just before 5 p.m., a home invasion was reported at 24 Barclay Street. In that incident, the suspects entered the residence, assaulted the victim, and fled with personal property. The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries.

A police K-9 was called in to track the suspects. The search was unsuccessful.

According to Police Lieutenant Damon Broadhead, a second incident was reported at 7:08 p.m. in the same neighborhood. In that case, a man was walking his dog near Carroll and Franklin Streets when he was allegedly assaulted by a group of teenage males. The victim was struck and fell to the ground. As a result, the victim suffered a laceration to the head as well as injuries to his hands. The victim was also transported to the hospital for treatment.

Lieutenant Broadhead said patrols have been increased in the vicinity and both investigations are ongoing.
