WHITE PLAINS – A 30-year-old Mamaroneck woman was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the murder of her toddler daughter, said Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr.

Cynthia Arce also pled guilty to two counts of attempted aggravated assault on a police officer.

On April 28, 2018, Village of Mamaroneck Police were called to 507 Chestnut Avenue by the child’s mother reporting someone was dying. When they arrived, they found the child – Gabriella Boyd – unresponsive in bed. She was transported to an area hospital where her death was ruled a homicide following an autopsy.

While police were clearing the house, officers located Arce in an adjacent bedroom behind a closed door. She had both hands behind her back and refused to comply with repeated police commands to show her hands.

She then brought both hands from behind her back and above her shoulders revealing two large knives, one in each hand. She charged the officers, repeatedly slashing at two of them. When the use of a stun gun failed to subdue her, a third officer shot and wounded Arce, ending the confrontation.
