SAUGERTIES – Former Ulster County Legislator Christopher Allen, who is seeking to regain his seat, was not charged or arrested by Saugerties Police. We regret the error in reporting that.
Saugerties resident Paul Fowler had alleged that Allen entered an open door to his apartment and refused to leave, something Allen denied. The candidate said he stood in the open doorway, spoke to Fowler for a moment and then left.
Fowler then filed a complaint with the police stating what he believed had occurred and maintained Allen should be charged with a misdemeanor of criminal trespass. No charges were filed as we mistakenly reported.
