TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – An armed burglary through an unlocked door occurred on the campus of Vassar College in the Town of Poughkeepsie in the early morning hours on Friday, College President Elizabeth Bradley said. As a result, the college has stepped up security.

The college safety and security team is working with Town of Poughkeepsie Police, she said.

“From the residential life team to our facilities operations to all of our deans and counseling teams, the entire college has been focused on working with students to address safety concerns,” said Bradley.

Measures taken by the college include extra staffing support from the security and safety team including extra patrols, key/lock changes for apartment residents, residential life team support to make certain students in need of extra support at this time receive it, and campus safety escort rides and campus shuttle.
