NEW PALTZ – Student enrollment at SUNY New Paltz is up slightly during this academic year and that is good news for school administrators.

College President Dr. Donald Christian said the growth is on both levels of the student population.

“We compare our numbers from last year and we are up this year about 100 undergraduate students over last year. We are up about 43 graduate students over last year,” he said. “As I look across the SUNY system, the patterns are very mixed. We have campuses that have reported increases in both like us, some that are down in both undergraduate and graduate,” he said.

Christian said that is pointing to the challenge facing the college to be sure they sustain or grow enrollments because the school is so financially dependent on tuition.
