KINGSTON – A 36-year-old Kingston man was murdered and city police are investigating.
Police were called to 38 West O’Reilly Street around 2 a.m. Friday for a report of a possible homicide. Arriving officers found the victim who was transported by EMS to Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley’s Broadway campus where he was pronounced dead.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
Kingston Police are being assisted in the investigation by the Ulster County District Attorney’s office, Ulster Sheriff’s Office, State Police and a K-9 unit from Town of Ulster Police.
This is the second homicide in the city recently.
Mayor Steven Noble said both attacks were targeted and there does not appear to be a threat to the general public.
“I want to assure the people of Kingston that the Kingston Police Department is working day and night to solve both of these recent crimes,” the mayor said while praising the work of Chief Egidio Tinto, the investigators and “dedicated police force who devote their lives to keeping our community safe.”
Noble encouraged anyone with information that would be helpful in solving the cases to call the police department at 845-331-1671. To submit an anonymous tip, call 845-331-9944 or use https://www.tipssubmit.com/webtipsstart.aspx .
