GOSHEN – The Appellate Division of State Supreme Court has reversed an Orange County Court conviction of a Campbell Hall man charged with attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, assault and other charges.

Christopher Peloso, 31, was convicted in a non-jury trial by Judge Robert Freehill and sentenced to 12 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.

Peloso had also been convicted of reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, driving while intoxicated and unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.

The appellate court reversed the conviction on the charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, assault, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief and sent the case back to county court for a new trial on the remaining counts of the indictment.

Peloso was charged with leading police on a high-speed chase through the towns of New Windsor and Newburgh on December 21, 2014, which ended when his vehicle crashed into police cars on Route 747 in New Windsor.
