NEW WINDSOR – The man accused of killing Deborah Waldinger was arraigned in New Windsor Town Court on Friday on a charge of murder.

Luis Rondon was committed to the Orange County Jail without bail.

Rondon had fled to California after Waldinger was found murdered on October 9 in her Southgate Village apartment.

New Windsor Police Chief Robert Doss said detectives returned late Thursday night from California with Rondon in custody. “No distance could have stopped investigators in this case from bringing him to justice for Deborah, her family and her friends,” he said.

Doss said Rondon thought he could get away with murder. “He could not have been more wrong.”

The chief credited the work of the investigators for tracking down Rondon and bringing him back to New York to face the murder charge.
