NEWBURGH – For the first time in New York history, early voting begins this weekend and the Christian Ministerial Fellowship in Newburgh wants to ensure a large turnout of voters in the city.

To that end, five churches will form a caravan after Sunday services and drive to the Newburgh Activity Center to vote.

Ministerial Fellowship President Pastor Willie Mays of New Life Pentecostal Church said they are pushing to get out the vote to benefit Newburgh.

“We need to vote and put the right people in office,” Mays said. “There is a lot in regarding to the economy, a lot going on with the school, a lot going on with the crime, in the City of Newburgh and we need help from one another to put the right people in office.”

Congregants from New Life Pentecostal Church, The Cathedral at the House, Calvary Full Gospel Family Church, New Life Deliverance Church, and Hudson Valley Christian Church will meet at 1:30 on Sunday and caravan to the polling place.
