GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus has named Eric Ruscher as the director of real property tax services.

For the past 16 years, he has served as assistant director under John McCarey, who retired in July after serving as director for 19 years.

Prior to serving as assistant director, Ruscher was the Town of Woodbury’s assessor for seven years. He ran a real estate appraisal business before joining the town’s government.

“Eric’s experience coupled with his work ethic make him the perfect fit for this important position,” said Neuhaus.

Ruscher’s duties as director will include continuing, maintaining and improving the real property tax services program, to develop equitable assessment practices, preparing and maintaining the county tax maps and providing advisory appraisals of moderate and complex real property.
