SPRING VALLEY – A call about a possible active shooter at Spring Valley High School late Thursday morning sent the school into lockdown mode and a full-scale investigation by authorities.

Spring Valley Police conducted a full search of the building and ruled out the shooter threat. The lockdown was subsequently lifted.

Through investigation handled by the school resource officer and detective bureau, it was learned that a juvenile at the high school had placed the call and that it contacted fake information.

The youth, whose age and sex were not made public, was charged with a felony of falsely reporting an incident.

The child was released to its parents on an appearance ticket pending a future court date.
