NEWBURGH – A man was found dead in a vehicle after it crashed into the back of a dump truck that was stopped at a red light at North Street and Powell Avenue in the City of Newburgh early Friday morning.
The city fire department was first called to the scene as the vehicle, a Chevrolet Suburban, was fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire was extinguished, the driver was found dead inside.
The medical examiner was called in to determine the cause of death.
Police have withheld the identity of the victim pending notification of relatives.
The accident is still being investigated.
