TOWN OF WALLKILL – All of the development in the Town of Wallkill is paying off for the taxpayers as the proposed 2020 budget comes in with the same tax levy as this year with a tax rate decline of 1.3 percent.

It comes in $478,000 under the state-imposed tax cap, and it includes new budget lines.

“A new police officer; there is a new person working in planning and zoning, so we were able to increase staffing,” said Supervisor Edward Diana. “We were able to get four more police cars as well as more equipment for the highway department and pave more roads this year.”

The budget, including general fund, highway, water and sewer totals $23 million.
