NEW PALTZ – The New Paltz Democratic Committee is the latest group to call on Ulster County Legislator Hector Rodriguez to resign.

He has been accused, in a special investigative report, of inappropriate behavior toward women while serving as a county lawmaker.

Rodriguez, of New Paltz, acted in a manner “beneath the dignity of a public office holder, and not in line with the values of the New Paltz community or the New Paltz Democratic Committee,” the political group said in a statement released Tuesday.

The committee asked Rodriguez to resign from the legislature, the State Democratic Committee, and the New Paltz Democratic Committee.

The town committee also “commends the brave voices of the women who have come forward to shed light on this abuse of power.”

They said Rodriguez “has used to target and intimidate members of the community” through his position.
