TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A homeless woman is in the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond after she allegedly fought with Poughkeepsie Town Police officers, striking one in the head with a construction brick and causing injury to that officer.

Police were called to R and K Grocery at 737 Main Street around 2 p.m. on Friday, October 4 for a report that Rashina McKinnon, 39, was hitting customers and refusing to leave the store. When officers arrived, she stole merchandise and fled on foot until she was caught in the parking lot of McDonald’s at 733 Main Street.

Once she was taken into custody, she provided a false identity.

McKinnon was charged with assault and forgery, both as felonies, resisting arrest, petit larceny and false personation, all as misdemeanors.
