Woman arrested in Claverack burglaries

CLAVERACK – A Claverack woman was arrested for allegedly committing two residential burglaries at the same location within five days.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a resident on Tishauser Road in the Town of Claverack reporting someone had burglarized his home. A large amount of money and a firearm were stolen on Saturday, September 28.

Five days later, on October 3, at about 1:23 p.m., Columbia County 911 dispatched deputies to another residence on Tishauser Road for a report of a woman attempted to get into a parked, unoccupied vehicle in a driveway.

While investigating that, deputies found the same residence from Saturday has been burglarized again.

The suspect, Selena McFadden, 22, of 419 Tishauser Road in Claverack, had fled on foot and eluded police.

Investigators developed a suspected on Friday and when she was encountered and interviewed, she made admission to her involvement in both burglaries.

A  search of her home resulted in evidence related to the burglaries.

McFadden was charged with burglary, two counts of grand larceny, criminal mischief and petit larceny. She was arraigned and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.
