Kingston man gets up to life for drug-related killing

KINGSTON – A Kingston man was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for fatally shooting another man following a gunpoint robbery of marijuana.

Maurice Stansberry, Sr., 39, had been convicted in July of murdering Mark Lancaster around noontime on December 1, 2018 after the robbery from Lancaster’s son at Sawkill Trailer Park. Stansdberry was found guilty of murder, three counts of robbery and criminal possession and use of a firearm.

Ulster County Court Judge Donald Williams called Stansberry’s life one of violence and gangs, contempt for the law, and wanton disregard for other. The judge noted Stansberry’s 23 years of criminal conduct.
