Michelle Hord, Gabrielle's mother, delivers a powerful impact statement to the court

WHITE PLAINS – Westchester County Court Judge George Fufidio sentenced Neil White, 50, of New Rochelle, to 25 years to life in state prison for the murder of his seven-year-old daughter Gabrielle White, in their New Rochelle home in 2017.

White was convicted in July of murder following a jury trial in which the jury found white smothered the child at their Arbor Glen home.

At sentencing on Wednesday, Michelle Hord, Gabrielle’s mother, delivered a power impact statement. Holding her daughter’s rag doll, she described the two years since her child’ murder as “a razor-blade cut of trauma, memory, pain, confusion, betrayal and disbelief.”

She told the court that she, her daughter and White were all asthmatics and said that “Asthmatics know the terror of not being able to easily inhale and exhale, and yet, Gabrielle’s daddy willfully and evilly chose to take that way from a baby who he once seemed to love and a daughter who he ultimately used as a pawn. My heart and soul have literally been ripped from the body by this man.”
