NYPD cop killed by friendly fire

NANUET – A motorcade of New York City and New York State Police escorted the body of NYPD Officer Brian Mulkeen, who was shot and killed by friendly fire as he struggled with a man with a criminal record.

Mulkeen, 33, who was living in Yorktown Heights, was a native of Monroe.

The motorcade escorted the fallen officer north on the Thruway on his way home.

One hour before he was mortally wounded, his partner and he recorded themselves singing

“Country Roads, Take Me Home” while driving in their squad car in the Bronx.

The suspect, Antonio Williams, 27, was shot and killed by other officers who came running to Mulkeen’s aid.
