WASHINGTON – The Roosevelt Fire District will receive $904,000 in federal funding through FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The money will be used to replace the fire department’s ladder truck with a new vehicle.

“This vital equipment provides needed capabilities for performing rescues in taller buildings, firefighting from elevated positions, and supporting firefighting operations with the full complement of equipment it carries,” said Fire Chief Lew Darrow. “The new equipment will allow our volunteer firefighters to operate safer and support the firefighting operations in the district.”

The grant was announced by Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.
