Records go back to the early 19th century

POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Clerk Brad Kendall announced the Index to Petitions for Naturalization is now available in full word-searchable form on the County Clerk’s webpage.

The Dutchess County Naturalization Records contain all surviving items relating to naturalization in Dutchess County under federal law, from 1800-1991. While this index only covers the petitions and not other document types, it can be used in conjunction with other finding aids. The index can be found by visiting www.DutchessNY.gov/NaturalizationIndex.

“This addition to our online capabilities is yet another positive advancement toward a more efficient and convenient experience for genealogists,” said Kendall. “The County Clerk’s Office continues to transform services into an electronic future, I am excited to implement the fully digital index, and the benefits it will bring for researchers who take advantage of this service.”
