YONKERS – The Yonkers Police Department is investigating two recent apparent overdose incidents in the City of Yonkers and is aware of three other apparent overdoses in the Woodlawn area of the Bronx that may be connected to the same source of tainted cocaine.

All five incidents resulted in the deaths of the victims.

The Yonkers incidents included a 38-year-old man who died on Friday, September 20 and a 40-year-old man who died on September 21.

The Yonkers Police Major Case Squad and Narcotics Unit, in collaboration with the NYPD and local law enforcement, are investigating the deaths and working to identify and apprehend the person or persons responsible for distributing this apparently dead substance.

Police advise residents never to ingest unknown or unprescribed controlled substances, especially illegal street drugs. The results could be fatal, police warn.

If anyone has information regarding these incidents, they are asked to call the Yonkers Police Narcotics Unit at 914-377-TIPS (8477). All calls may remain confidential.

Anyone with a substance abuse problem is suggested to reach out for help by calling 914-964-8000.
