Man slashed at Wallkill nightclub; suspect arrested

TOWN OF WALLKILL – A Middletown man was committed to the Orange County Jail following his arrest on a felony assault charge at a bar.

State Police and Wallkill Town Police were called to the VYBZE nightclub at 360 Route 211 East at 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, September 21 where a man was located suffering from a large laceration to the right side of his head.

An investigation by State Police led to the arrest of Barry Cooper, 26, who was located hiding in woods off Carpenter Avenue.

Cooper was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, both as felonies.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

VYZBE is the site of the former JD’s Sports Lounge where troopers investigated a shooting in April 2018.
