NEWBURGH – The shooting death of Aned Alberto Alvarado-Baquedano, 35, this past weekend was the third killing in the City of Newburgh this year. Police are investigating his death along with the shooting of another man, who was wounded in the leg during the late-night incident at Liberty and Clinton streets.

Mayor Torrance Harvey was upset about the latest tragedy in which an innocent bystander was killed and said city officials are doing their best to prevent violence in Newburgh.

“We are really, really working hard to come up with all types of solutions to keep people to keep people engaged, to keep people employed, keep young people off the streets and consumed with whether it is athletics, training, workforce development, trying to do everything we can do to minimize the violent crimes or crime in general in our city,” the mayor said.

City Police continue to investigate this latest gun violence.
