GREENPORT – State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a farm tractor and a commercial dump truck on Route 9 in the Town of Greenport.
It happened about 2:15 p.m. Thursday, September 19, when an International Harvester tractor was attempting to cross Route 9 from Yates Road.
The tractor, driven by Stuart Meisner, 67, of Hudson, failed to yield the right of way and was hit by the dump truck on Route 9. Meisner died at the scene.
The truck driver, Norman Stoddard, 72, of Hudson, was transported to Columbia County Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Greenport Rescue and the State Department of Environmental Conservation also responded to the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
