Republican Party defers to Trump World

I did some online research to get our national debt numbers. When Trump took office our national debt was $19.9 trillion dollars. Since then our debt, as of this past February, increased to $22 trillion dollars and mounting; February saw the largest monthly budget deficit on record at a staggering $234 billion dollars, wider than the $215 billion recorded in February 2018 ! In just two years Trump has overseen the fastest dollar increase in the debt of any President. During his first term, Trump’s fiscal year 2020 budget projects the debt will increase by $5 trillion dollars. During his campaign Trump promised to eliminate the national debt in 8 years. Instead his budgets would add $9.1 trillion dollars during that time ! After 8 years in office the nation’s debt would reach a stratospheric $29 trillion dollars as per Trump’s budget estimates. Our national debt is currently at $22.4 trillion which is greater than our estimated GDP(Gross Domestic Product) of $21.06 trillion dollars in the first quarter of 2019.

Where is the outcry from the Republicans who supposedly represent the party of fiscal discipline. Not a word uttered over Trump’s spending spree; only a deafening silence from the Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill. It is quite obvious the Republican Party has surrendered its soul to Trump. This  party is no longer the party of Lincoln or the party of Reagan. This is a Republican Party that bends to the will of ‘ Trump World.’ Such hypocrisy is pathetically sad and so unfortunate for the financial well-being of our nation.
