DOVER – A Greenwich, Connecticut woman was killed when the horse she was riding on Byrds Hill Road in the Town of Dover reared for an unknown reason and fell on top of her.
State Police at Dover Plains said Samantha Calzone, 23, was riding at a family farm about 10:45 a.m. on Monday when the horse reared and landed on her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Northern Dutchess Paramedics and the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the scene.
