NEW CITY – We have all heard that vaping can cause health issues including addiction to nicotine and pulmonary problems from inhaling the chemicals.
Now, there is another concern.
Clarkstown Police said a 30-year-old Westbury man was injured on Monday evening when a vape pen exploded in his pants pocket while he was at the Palisades Center mall in West Nyack. He sustained minor burns to his leg.
Police are urging extra care when handling vape products.
Meanwhile, New York became the first state on Tuesday to ban the sale of flavored e-cigarettes, maintaining they are meant to entice young people and addict them to nicotine.
