KENT – Two New Jersey men were injured, one seriously, in an ATV crash Saturday in western Kent.

Kent Police identified the pair as Steven Adams of Cream Ridge and Trevor Sullivan of Robbinsville, both 23 years old.

Police Chief Kevin Owens said the men were riding a quad-type vehicle on Pudding Street at a high rate of speed and when they entered the intersection of Richardsville Road, the ATV went out of control and crashed.

A passing motorist discovered Sullivan in the middle of the road and called 9-1-1. Kent Fire and Rescue personnel responded along with a paramedic from the EM STAR Ambulance Company and when it was determined Sullivan’s injuries were life threatening, a call was made for a medivac helicopter to respond.

The chopper landed at the Huestis Park off Farmers Mills Road and airlifted the man to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla where he was admitted to ICU, said the police chief.

In the interim, while investigating the crash, police and fire personnel found Adams walking nearby. A second ambulance and paramedic were summoned. Adams was checked out but refused to be taken to the hospital.

The Garden State resident was issued several summonses by police including operating an unregistered, uninsured and uninspected motor vehicle.

The chief said the men were visiting friends on Richardsville Road for the weekend at the time.
