Neuhaus to receive statewide award for public service

KIAMESHA LAKE – The New York State Association of Counties will present Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus with its Executive Director Award for Public Service at its fall seminar at Resorts World Catskills in Kiamesha Lake on Tuesday, September 17.

The award recognizes leaders who make outstanding contributions to county governments in the state. Association Executive Director Stephen Acquario said Neuhaus was selected for his commitment and service to Orange County and the nation.

Neuhaus, who serves as a lieutenant commander in the US Navy Reserves assigned to a Naval Special Operations team, was deployed on active duty orders from November 2018 until late June of this year. He served with the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force, spending most of his deployment in Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, the US military campaign against ISIS.

“Public service comes in many ways and County Executive Neuhaus has demonstrated that Orange County and while serving our country abroad,” said Acquario. “Time and again County Executive Neuhaus has demonstrated his commitment to the residents of Orange County. He is well-liked and respected by his peers in New York State, earning a reputation for his hard work and his hands-on approach to getting things done.”

Acquario said Neuhaus “has made Orange County a leader in economic development and tourism, while strengthening the county’s infrastructure.”
