Monticello man arrested in stabbing

MONTICELLO – A Monticello man was arrested and charged with assault in connection with a stabbing that occurred on Wednesday, September 11.

Police were called to a report of a disturbance in a residence on Morris Drive in the Village of Monticello around 11 p.m. A 16-year-old boy was standing outside with a minor stab wound to his right side. He had been intentionally stabbed during an altercation, allegedly by Marceau Harris, 21, of Monticello, who also broke two TVs and two glass end tables inside the residence.

Harris was located there and arrested and the pocket knife used to stab the victim was recovered.

A Monticello Police officer sustained an injury to his left thumb during the arrest of Harris that required treatment at Catskill Regional Medical Centre.

Harris was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief. He is in the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail pending further court action.

Monticello Police were assisted at the scene by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, State Police, Mobile Medic ambulance and Monticello Fire Department.
