The former first lady was a 1995 recipient of the prestigious award. This will mark the first time a mother and daughter have received the medal.

The other honorees this year are Hyde Park residents and philanthropists John and Gloria Golden; humanitarian, author and global journalist Zainab Salbi; and Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises and gender equity champion.

The annual awards pay tribute to the legacy of former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, at The Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill. This year they will be presented at a luncheon on Sunday, October 13.

“Dedicated to serving others, these inspiring honorees have made an irrevocable impact on the global community,” said Val-Kill Executive Director April Gozza. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to honor and celebrate their contributions, which put into action Eleanor’s ideals.”
