WAWARSING – Two Ellenville residents were arrested by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday following a traffic stop in the parking lot of a retail store in the Town of Wawarsing.
Investigation led to the discovery of a loaded .22 caliber handgun in the vehicle.
Arrested were Superior Brown, 19, and Magnificent Brown, 21. Magnificent Brown fled from the vehicle on foot, but was taken into custody after a brief pursuit.
With assistance from the URGENT task force and the Ulster County Emergency Response Team, detectives executed search warrants at residences in Wawarsing and Ellenville where additional evidence was recovered.
Superior Brown was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond. Magnificent Brown was held pending a parole violation proceeding.
The investigation is ongoing and police said additional charges may be filed.
