Man arraigned on 53-count weapons indictment in Westchester

WHITE PLAINS – A Westchester County grand jury indicted a Great Neck, Long Island man on a 53-count indictment for possessing an arsenal of weapons and ammunition while in the Village of Tuckahoe in August.

Local police responded to a call from a concerned resident who reported seeing Matthew Bonanno, 47, with weapons in his car parked outside his Tuckahoe residence.

Police investigated, arrested him outside 25 Main Street and seized nine weapons including rifles with high-capacity magazines and ammunition, some with adjustable stocks.

He was charged with 11 counts of criminal possession of a weapon for having assault rifles and other firearms; 38 counts of criminal possession of a weapon related to illegal high-capacity magazines and ammunition; and four counts of criminal possession of a weapon for having metal knuckles.

Bonanno faces other charges in Nassau County.
