Teen shot in Kingston

KINGSTON – Police are looking for a suspect in connection with a 9:20 p.m. Wednesday shooting in the city.

The victim, an 18-year-old Kingston man, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdominal area. He was transported by ambulance to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie and later released.

Investigation determined the victim was shot while he was returning to an address on Downs Street between Foxhall and Wiltwyck Avenues with three other people. No one else was struck.

Police said the shooting does not appear to be random; the shot appears to have been directed at the victim or one of his companions.

The Ulster County District Attorney and Sheriff’s offices assisted along with State Police and Town of Ulster Police.
