PHILMONT – When Philmont and Claverack firefighters responded to a structure fire on Monday, there was a surprise they did not anticipate.
The volunteers responded to a reported fire on Main Street in Philmont and once the flames were extinguished they discovered an assault weapon, owned by Samuel Wright, 30, of Philmont. He was arrested on Thursday and charged with illegal possession in New York.
Wright was released on his own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
