PUTNAM VALLEY – A Poughkeepsie man was arrested by Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies following a physical domestic dispute in a gas station parking lot on Bryant Pond Road in Putnam Valley last Sunday.

Deputies allege Steven Tomassetti, 31, of Poughkeepsie, hit his 23-year-old girlfriend several times in the face and took her cellphone to prevent her from calling 911.

He was also found to have been driving on Wood Street with a license that had seven suspensions.

Tomassetti was charged with criminal mischief for preventing a person from seeking emergency assistance, harassment, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and aggravated family offense as a felony because he was previously convicted of a family offense within the last five years. He was sent to the Putnam County Jail pending future court action.
