Kingston City 9/11 ceremony in 2018

KINGSTON – Independent and Republican Kingston mayoral candidate Ellen DiFalco has urged the city to reschedule their meetings slated for Wednesday, September 11 “out of respect to honor those loved ones we lost and those who responded to the horrific tragedy of September 11, 2001.DiFalco wrote to the city planning board and Finance Committee chairman late last week, reminding them that “September 11 is a National Day of Service and Remembrance.”

She said no meetings should be held on that date.

Planning Director Sue Cahill, who was one of those with whom DiFalco communicated, referred any response from the media to city spokeswoman Summer Smith.

Alderman Douglas Koop, chairman of the Finance Committee, said Kingston “will hold its annual 9/11 tribute and ceremony on the morning of Wednesday, September 11 at 8:30 a.m. in remembrance and honor for those who tragically lost their lives and their loved ones. However, the city will have regular business hours and meetings as scheduled for the remainder of the day.”

DiFalco is challenging Democratic Mayor Steven Noble in the general election.
