CARMEL – “School’s open” signs are on display throughout the region as police on the county, town and village levels have installed the signage within their jurisdictions.

School bells ring for the first time today in Carmel, Putnam Valley and Garrison in Putnam County as well as other districts throughout the Hudson Valley with the remaining opening for classes tomorrow and Thursday.

Police have all issued the same message, “Never pass a stopped and loading or unloading school bus with its red lights flashing.”

Cops throughout the region have promised a zero tolerance for violators.
