WAPPINGER – A standoff that began Monday evening with a man barricaded inside a residence on Marlorville Road in the Town of Wappinger ended early this morning when the man surrendered to police.

Troop K State Police Major Richard Mazzone said the man gave up at 2:25 a.m. and was taken into custody.

At about 7:32 p.m. Dutchess County 911 received a phone call for an unknown disturbance on Marlorville Road in Town of Wappinger. Troopers responded to that location and upon arrival, they were fired upon by an individual at that location,” he said.

Mazzone confirmed one trooper sustained a minor injury. Initial reports said the officer had been grazed by a bullet.

Family members, who were apparently inside the building with him during the ordeal, were being treated.
