NEW CITY – A Spring Valley resident was sentenced in Rockland County Court on Wednesday to 12 years in prison and 20 years of post-release supervision on his guilty plea to course of sexual conduct against a child.

Between October 2014 and December 2018, Luis Miguel Lopez-Ruiz, 35, had sexual relations with a child starting when the victim was under 13 years old. The repeated abuse, which took place in the Town of Ramapo, continued until the victim was 15.

The case was investigated by Ramapo Town Police with assistance from the Special Victims Unit of the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.

“This sentence imposed is more than deserved considering the frightening ordeal of sexual violence that went on for years,” said Acting DA Kevin Gilleece. “The defendant is a dangerous predator who destroyed a child’s innocence.”
