ALBANY – Industrial development agencies across the state are now added to the list of public entities that must live stream their meetings.

The governor signed legislation that also requires IDAs to post video recordings online within five business days of the meeting or hearing and they must remain available for at least five years.

Orange County IDA Chief Operating Officer Laurie Villasuso expected the new law and said they support full transparency in their operations and will put in place the mechanism to start the live streaming.

“Industrial development agencies are tasked with revitalizing communities and fostering economic growth at the local level, but most New Yorkers don’t have time to attend meetings and participate in the process,” said Governor Cuomo. ‘This new measure will help foster civic engagement and get more residents involved in the meetings and hearings that will ultimately have a huge impact on the future of their communities.”
