MONTICELLO – A Monticello woman is in the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail, accused of intentionally injuring her five-month-old daughter at a residence in the village.

At about 11:18 p.m. on Monday, August 26, village police responded to a 911 call of the infant being assaulted by Christina Petrocelli, 31.

A witness at the scene told police Petrocelli had intentionally struck the baby and then tossed her, resulting in facial swelling, bruising and a laceration to the inside of the infant’s mouth.

The child was treated at the scene by Mobile Medic Paramedics and flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.  The infant is now reported in stable condition.

Monticello Police arrested Petrocelli at the scene, charging her with felony assault and misdemeanors of endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief.
