NEWBURGH – 47 Grand Street in Newburgh once served as a bank, then later, as a chamber of commerce office and now the stately building just off Broadway is a district office for two state lawmakers, Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson (D, Newburgh) and Senator James Skoufis (D, Woodbury).

Both men said placing their office in the city will benefit their constituents and the city as a whole.

Skoufis said their office will add to the rebirth of Newburgh.

“There is a renaissance happening in the City of Newburgh. We’re a part of it and we are committed to moving that process forward.”

Jacobson said placing their offices together in Newburgh means a dedication to the city.

“We can work on legislation, constituent problems and bounce ideas off each other. This office is a commitment to the City of Newburgh and I am very excited to be here.”

Prior to this year, Jacobson served as a Newburgh city councilman and Skoufis was an assemblyman.
