NEWBURGH – Independent Living, Inc. has been awarded $125,000 from the state for upgrades to its main facility on Washington Terrace in the City of Newburgh.

The funding was secured by Senator James Skoufis (D, Woodbury), who said the agency “provides so many people with unparalleled support and assistance.”

The funds will be used to renovate and upgrade their space.

Independent Living President Douglas Hovey said the main facilities reach over 5,000 area residents each year “helping them to become self-sufficient and lead better lives.”

“When we invest in our programs and organizations that level the playing field for all New Yorkers, we open up opportunities for our communities to access indispensable resources,” said Skoufis.
