WARWICK – Police identified the two men who were electrocuted as they worked on guide wires on high-voltage towers atop Mount Peter in Warwick on Monday.

The men, who died at the scene after they contacted a 69,000-volt cable, are Derrick Paris, 51, of West Caldwell, New Jersey and Justin McLoughlin, 28, of Trenton, Georgia.

The US Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified of the incident and has launched an investigation.

The fatal incident occurred as a brush fire raged on top of the mountain.

Orange and Rockland Utilities was asked to cut power to one area to allow firefighters access to the fire.
