MONTICELLO – A Narrowsburg man was sentenced in Sullivan County Court on Tuesday to seven years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision for the burglary of a residence and theft of a loaded handgun.

District Attorney James Farrell said Peter Ammendola, 28, entered guilty pleas to burglary and criminal possession of a weapon, both violent felonies.

Ammendola admitted to burglarizing a home on Irishtown Road in the Town of Tusten in October 2018 and stealing a loaded Glock firearm, an ATV and cash.

Farrell said the victim saw Ammendola fleeing with the ATV and discovered he had broken a window to gain entry to the home and had rummaged through it, stealing the gun and money.

State Police investigated and the ATV and gun, which was lawfully possessed by the owner, were both returned by Ammendola as part of the investigation.

Farrell’s office recommended Ammendola, who is a second felony offender with a prior felony drug conviction in 2011, be sentenced to nine years in prison for the home burglary, theft and gun possession.

“The sharp observation of the victim in this case led the State Police to quickly apprehend Ammendola for this home burglary” and the recovery of the stolen items.
